Unit 1 :)

Part A: Reflection
In this unit I learned that Francophone's are french speaking people and Anglophones are English speaking people.
I found it really interesting that the Metis could be assimulated.
I can connect what have learned in class to English because i have an aboriginal male in my class.
What surprised me this unit was that I'm stuck between the Bill 101 being successful or unsuccessful.
One concept that I am still having difficulty with is what the CanCun laws are.
One question I still have is why the Francophones were so worried about saving there collective identity.
One skill or learning strategy I found helpful was the word wheel.
If I was to teach someone how to use this I would tell them to first write all the defenitions and down and connect the words in a way that they are similar or relate to one another.
Part B: Economic Globalization

This is a photo of outsourcing , outsourcing is when a company from one country hires another country to fulfill certain tasks and needs . Transnational corporation outsources because it's cheaper because countries like China have less rules about working conditions. Transnational corporation want to pay less because they can make more money.

Part C : Globalization and Identity

This statement "keeping our language in our province Quebec" , is trying to say that they want to keep speaking French forever and not let the language be assimulated. Bill 101 was a law that was enforced by people from Quebec to keep their language. Quebec passed this law because Quebec is a French speaking province and did not want there province to be taken over by English speaking people (Anglophones) . Bill 101 basically saved their language.
In the source the speaker doesn't exactly agree with Bill 101. The speaker says "we don't need Bill 101 to protect the French language over there". This shows that the speaker belives that he or she will always speak French.  Another example I see in the source is that the speaker is a Francophone and wants to protect his langauge and collective identity. This shows that Francophones do not all agree with Bill 101 . Bill 101 was unsuccessful for some Francophones.
I believe Bill 101 was successful for their own province. Bill 101 was made to save the French Speaking Language. I believe everyone should have a right to speak the language they want to speak. When a majority of the people speak French and English speaking people( minority) move to Quebec , they are worried they will lose their language and have it assimualted over time . Not all Francophones can speak English and be bilingual. I believe that Bill 101 had a good affect on some French speaking people.
